Closing Statement

Over the last two years Code/Out has done some amazing work. We have built relationships with tech companies, helping them address and change their hiring policies. Code/Out established relationships with the Department of Juvenile Justice and Fulton County Officials. We managed to begin and run classes for over six months inside the prison system. We also started a culture shift in how we address our state’s issues surrounding recidivism and generational poverty.

Each of these accomplishments has been hard won. Each came with momentous effort, time and emotional stress. As a small organization the stress of the accomplishments began to deteriorate our meager resources. We attempted to change course; working with other organizations and pipelines. However, after much thought and consideration, we learned the cause was too big for us alone. We would be doing a disservice to the people we aimed to serve by not being able to fully meet our goals.

It is with this understanding that in a joint decision of the Board of Directors and Executive Director that Code/Out will be pausing operations indefinitely. We are leaving the option open to begin anew but also understand that this option will only be taken when we feel we can address it with the integrity and funding it deserves. For now, we are taking time to pause and reflect.

Current monthly donors will be canceled starting November 1st and all donation platforms will be discontinued by that date as well. Those who have made donations throughout the last year will still receive donor letters for their tax deductions. If you have any questions about the amount you gave, current donations or other administrative needs you can email us at info@codeout.org.

As we move toward operation suspension we are working with our partners to aid the women that were in our program, find avenues for our current pipeline to enter into technology education and support our Executive Director in her future endeavors. We are thankful for the support from our greater community over the course of our existence. We would not have made it this far without your support.

Sincerely

Board of Directors
